“Stage Right Seniors Realize their Dreams!”
Young performers accepted to the colleges of their choice
GREENSBURG, PA - Stage Right! School for the Performing Arts has always used the motto; “Where Dreams Begin” and this year, as in years past, Senior students have found those dreams realized with acceptance into some of the best college programs in the country. This year, three seniors, Zakk Mannella (Penn Trafford), Kati Falk (Norwin), and Brittany Basenback (Latrobe), enrolled in Stage Right’s College Track Program, prepared their audition material under the guidance of the SR staff which included Anthony Marino (Acting, Audition Technique) Renata Marino (Dance, Musical Theatre) and Cindy Baltzer (Voice, Vocal Audition Technique). The 3 started the season by taking part in Stage Right’s first professional
show of the season, The King and I, playing supporting leads. After that they concentrated their efforts on preparing for their first auditions which began in November. Each student auditioned for between 4 and 8 schools. Every year thousands of talented kids audition for the top 15 Acting and Musical Theatre Schools. (CMU, NYU, Emerson, Point Park, Shenandaoah, Etc.) These schools only accept approximately 150 to 200 students combined, meaning this is one of the most highly-competitive majors in all of college academia.
The student has to prepare two monologues for acting programs and two monologues and two musical theatre songs for Musical theatre programs. Students audition in the Fall and Winter and wait for their letters to arrive in the Spring.
Stage Right! is proud to announce:
Zakk Mannella has been accepted to Manhattan Marymount, Kent State and Shenandoah University as a Musical Theatre Major.
Brittany Basenback has been accepted to Kent State University.
Kati Falk has been accepted into the Acting programs of Emerson College, Manhattan Marymount and NYU/Tisch.
We are proud to salute these talented and diligent young performers, who have taken another step towards their dreams.

Eryn Berquist--Our Community Idol!By Jeannie Rings The Community Idol contest held at Hempfield Community Days (September 20) was an overwhelming success. Many talented local singers braved the main stage and audience to take their chance to win the $100 cash prize. The winner was brilliant 13-year-old singer Eryn Berquist from Hempfiled who sang a beautiful rendition of the song “Colors of the Wind.” Other contestants sang beautifully, earning them all fabulous prizes that were all donated by businesses and event sponsors. The contest winner was able to do an encore performance on Sunday and open up for the Poverty Neck hillbillies; this was definitely a moment to remember for Eryn.
