Today was the best theme of the week: "dress up as your favorite musical character day." But when you love as many musicals as we do, how can you choose just one character?
Solution: pick more than one.
GOT TO WEAR MY SEUSS HAT AND 24601 SHIRT ALL DAY, YEAAAHH.
It was fun seeing all the kids dressed as their favorite characters and trying to guess who was who. Some (like me) were pretty obvious. Others were more subtle, dressing as beloved minor characters instead of easily recognizable main leads.
I saw everyone from Elton John to Carlos from Legally Blonde to Clarisse from The Lightning Thief. Great job. A+ on costumes. Here are some more of them:
Now that it's the end of week two, I went around to ask the kids what they thought of their shows and the roles they play. First, I talked to the preteens about it. They seem to be enjoying Beauty and the Beast Jr.
I also talked to the teens, but because Godspell isn't about named characters, I asked them what they liked about the show and the songs in general. Some of them talked about their solos:
Both these shows are a lot of work and still have much to go. How will these kids withstand the crunch of tech week? Stay tuned.
