Greensburg, PA — On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, Stage Right! School for the Performing Arts joined Wendover Middle School for its annual Wellness Day—an event dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and encouraging students to explore creative strategies for self-care.
As part of the day’s offerings, Stage Right! hosted an engaging dance station where over 50 students rotated through five sessions of movement, creativity, and fun. Led by Sage Evans, a Stage Right! dance instructor and graduating senior in the Dance program at Seton Hill University, students learned simple line dances and fun choreography inspired by popular TikTok trends. “The energy was amazing,” said Evans. “It was so cool to see students who were maybe shy at first light up through movement. Dancing not only connects us, but it gives us a way to let go of stress and just be in the moment.
Along with dancing, students learned about the benefits of physical activity and creativity in managing anxiety, overwhelm, and depression. The connection between movement and mental wellness was central to the experience. “Movement is one of the most accessible and effective tools young people have to support their mental health,” said Stacey Nedrow Ross, Stage Right!’s Program Coordinator, who also joined in on the choreography with the students.
“We wanted to give them a taste of how the performing arts can empower, uplift, and provide real tools for emotional regulation and joy.”
Stage Right! was honored to be part of this important day and looks forward to continuing to support local schools with arts-centered outreach that promotes not only creativity but well-being.
